The gold is bright throughout; the softly feathered gold edge on the rims is part of the original decoration, not wear. Light marks consistent with stacking appear on some pieces, with no signs of utensil scratching. The set has a number of minor glaze flaws from manufacture, which appear as small indented specks; the most noticeable is on the tureen lid near the handle base.
