Noritake Mayfield 7280 China Set – Service for 10 – Hand Painted Japan – Gold Encrusted Formal Dinnerware
A vintage Noritake formal dining service in the "Mayfield" pattern (7280), hand-decorated in raised gold moriage work on a warm ivory ground, produced in Japan between 1947 and 1952. The service includes 10 each of dinner plates, salad plates, bread & butter plates, soup bowls, and dessert bowls — five complete core lines.
This is the kind of traditional formal china that transforms a dining room: intricate gold scrollwork and balanced proportions create a timeless presentation suited equally to holiday gatherings, formal entertaining, or curated display.
Unlike the incomplete estate remnants often found today, this offering remains together as a coordinated service for ten — increasingly difficult to find intact in matching vintage formal china. Some coordination will be needed, as this set does not include cups and saucers or serving pieces; given its neutral gold motif, it would pair beautifully with a more colorful cup and saucer set or serving suite.
Condition is very good throughout. One bread & butter plate has a small edge chip, fully disclosed; the remaining 49 pieces show no chips, cracks, or crazing.
