A Rosenthal porcelain plate from the company’s Delft series, decorated in cobalt blue with a coastal village scene: a bell-towered church with two figures in Dutch dress at its entrance, a moored sailing boat, bare wind-swept trees, and a distant windmill across the water. Billowing clouds and a deepening blue wash along the lower border give the scene a soft, atmospheric quality. Rosenthal’s Delft line paid homage to traditional Dutch blue-and-white pottery while being made in true porcelain.

Marked on the reverse with Rosenthal’s crown-and-crossed-rods script mark, introduced in 1907, together with the series’ vase-form R&C “Delft, Germany” mark.

Measures 9⅞" in diameter. No chips or cracks; light brown specks on the unglazed foot ring.
