Baccarat Crystal Ladybug Figurine Paperweight, Frosted Spots, Signed

Baccarat’s ladybug is a small study in contrast. The domed shell is left plain and polished to make the most of the crystal’s natural refraction, while the spots are finished in soft, frosted satin, so clear and matte crystal play against each other across one small form. Cupped in the palm, it has the satisfying weight of solid full-lead crystal. Set on a sunny desk or windowsill, it sends small rainbows across the surface.

Baccarat has been synonymous with French luxury crystal since the house was founded in 1764 in the Lorraine region of France. Its small sculptural animals, including birds, insects, and other creatures, have become one of its most enduring and collected lines, prized as much for their weight and optical clarity as for their charm. The ladybug has since been retired.

The underside carries both of Baccarat’s marks: the circular acid-etched “Baccarat France” stamp and the cursive “Baccarat” signature.

A charming paperweight or desk companion, a lucky token for a friend’s new office, and a lovely, accessible first piece for anyone drawn to Baccarat’s animal figures.
