Rosenthal "R&C Delft" Pierced Serving Dish, Circa 1891–1930s — Windmill & Winter Canal Scene, Antique Germany

An exceptional antique Rosenthal Delft-series serving dish in rich cobalt flow blue, featuring a beautifully atmospheric winter harbor scene: a working windmill, a distant church spire and townscape, moored sailboats and rowboats along the shoreline, and figures walking the frozen bank. Layered cloud work and graduated blue shading give the composition genuine depth beyond a typical repeated motif.

The dish is further distinguished by its reticulated (pierced) rim — a more labor-intensive, elaborate mold treatment than a plain scalloped edge, adding real dimensional interest to the deeply irregular, scroll-worked silhouette.

Measures 9¾" x 10⅛", 2¼" deep.

Condition — please note before purchasing: A professionally repaired chip on the foot ring, located on the underside base and not visible when the piece is displayed upright. No other condition issues; the front-facing surface, glaze, and painted scene are excellent throughout. Please review all photos, as this dish is sold as-is with this disclosed repair.

Marked on the reverse with Rosenthal's vase-form R.C. mark and "Delft, Germany" in script, consistent with the company's late 19th- to early 20th-century production.
