Nippon Celery Dish & Six Matching Salt Dishes, Raised Gold Cherry Blossoms, Antique

This Nippon serving set is decorated almost entirely in gold. Run a fingertip along the rim and you’ll feel it rise from the porcelain: raised gold outlines frame each cherry blossom, beaded gold dots trace every border, and stylized gold branches climb along a soft butter-yellow band. A gold medallion anchors the center of the celery dish, whose ends are pierced for handles. The six pointed-oval salt dishes each carry cherry blossoms set within small gold-framed panels, echoing the larger dish.

Each piece carries the green “Hand Painted Nippon” wreath mark, consistent with Japanese porcelain made for export before 1921, when American import rules changed the required marking to “Japan.”

Set the celery dish down the center of a holiday table, with a salt dish at each guest’s place, for a table that glows from end to end.

Condition: Please note before purchasing: a minor chip on one corner of the celery dish, and light age-related staining on some of the salt dishes, mostly on the undersides. The gold remains bright and largely intact. Please review all photos carefully.
