An early Rosenthal piece from the Monbijou line — not a single pattern, but the ornate, deeply scalloped and ruffled mold shape Rosenthal introduced in 1896, sent out to independent artists across Europe for individual hand-finishing. This particular platter carries a soft blue transfer scene of a classical woman in flowing drapery, gathering flowers beside a pair of birds, within Monbijou's signature ruffled, scroll-handled silhouette.

The reverse carries Rosenthal's earliest documented mark: the R.C. crown-and-crossed-swords stamp with "Monbijou," dating this piece firmly to the 1896–1907 window — Rosenthal's very first Monbijou production run, predating the line's later 20th-century revival.

Measures 13½" handle to handle, 8⅞" wide.

Condition — please note before purchasing: One handle has a professional repair, visible in the accompanying detail photos. The repair is stable and does not affect the platter's ability to be safely displayed. Please review all photos carefully, as this platter is sold as-is with this disclosed repair.
